SimpliSafe Unveils AI-Powered Security for Unmatched Protection
SimpliSafe introduces AI-powered home security for unmatched protection. Discover how smart tech is redefining safety, privacy, and peace of mind.
SimpliSafe has unveiled its latest innovation, Active Guard Outdoor Protection, as part of its enhanced subscription offerings. This new plan includes 24/7 outdoor monitoring for $50 per month, covering the company’s standard $32 indoor monitoring service. The Outdoor Protection Pro service is powered by the new Outdoor Security Camera Series 2, designed to deliver unmatched protection. Unlike its predecessor, this camera leverages AI for its ‘Familiar Face’ feature, minimizing false alarms and ensuring peace of mind.
A trained human agent steps in when the system detects an unrecognized person. The agent can assess the situation, activate floodlights and sirens, or contact the authorities. SimpliSafe emphasizes the human element in this process, with agents making the final decision aided by AI. Product SVP Hooman Shahidi highlights that AI is designed to support agents, not replace them. The company’s agents receive training on racial bias and come from diverse backgrounds, ensuring thoughtful and inclusive service.
CEO Christian Cerda has expressed a cautious approach toward integrating generative AI, reflecting SimpliSafe’s commitment to prioritizing human judgment. Priced at $200, the new Outdoor Security Camera Series 2 offers advanced features, including HD video, a 140-degree field of view, and a built-in microphone and speaker for two-way communication. With its weatherproof design, the camera can be either battery-powered or hardwired.
Since its founding in 2006, SimpliSafe has become one of the top three home security companies in the U.S., competing with ADT and Vivint. Despite increasing competition from smart home products like Amazon’s Ring and Google’s Nest, SimpliSafe continues to innovate. The company expanded internationally with its U.K. office in 2019 and recently moved to a larger headquarters in Boston, marking another milestone in its 18-year journey.
