Explore Perplexity’s elections tracking tool today! Get quick updates and information about upcoming elections. Stay engaged and informed!
Perplexity, the AI-powered search engine, occasionally generates inaccurate information, but the company aims to demonstrate its reliability in tracking election results. Today, Perplexity launched a dedicated hub for U.S. general election information, featuring data from trusted sources like The Associated Press and Democracy Works. Describing the hub as “an entry point for understanding key issues,” Perplexity will offer live updates on presidential, senate, and house races, both statewide and nationally. This initiative underscores Perplexity’s commitment to providing accurate and timely information for election insights.
Perplexity’s election hub addresses various election-related questions—from voting requirements and polling hours to AI-driven summaries on ballot measures, candidates, policy positions, and endorsements. While largely powered by data from The Associated Press and Democracy Works, this feature is noteworthy as many competitors, like OpenAI with ChatGPT Search, have opted to redirect users to trusted sources rather than offer election-specific features directly. Anthropic’s Claude and Google’s Gemini, similarly, avoid election questions. With a strong focus on accuracy, Perplexity aims to set a new standard despite the challenges of AI-generated misinformation in sensitive domains like elections.

A July study by the Center for Democracy and Technology found that over a third of responses to 77 election-related questions from AI chatbots, including Claude and Gemini, contained inaccuracies. Additional research highlights even poorer performance when these chatbots handle election queries from individuals with accessibility needs or for whom English is not the primary language.
